The Brief
As Huge headed into 2024, with a commitment to transparency they looked to publish the annual DE&I Report, covering not only the statistics of the employee group but highlighting the efforts made in the business to support diversity on all fronts.
The Concept
Never Done
The original working title for this concept was ‘A Work in Progress’ to emphasize the fact that DE&I efforts at any corporation are never complete, never finalized. Working on diversity is the one thing we will never be perfect at and there will always be room for improvement on.
To visualize this we went all the way back to pen and paper, quite literally. The concept built out of the notion of blue pen doodles, scribbles and notes you would put in your lined journals in school. They make a document feel more human, personable and like it isn’t this perfectly crafted overly corporate document.
Colour Palette
We built the colour palette out of this vibrant blue from the pens, merged with some of the classic Huge colours (black, pink and green).
Cover Explorations
Solidifying the concept relied heavily on the front and back covers of the report. The interior had to focus heavily on the information being relayed so our opportunity to give this a real concept hinged on the covers. We went through various iterations (as seen below) for just this concept and landed on a front cover that had the essence of the doodle style but felt more refined and minimal, leaving the heavy doodles for the back cover to sign off the doc.
Content Layouts
We had to ensure all of the information was conveyed clearly and that we utilized as much photography of real Hugers as possible throughout the report, you can see some select page layouts below.
